Phones in the Pharmacy

Have you ever Googled a question? Of course, you have! Personally, I Google questions all the time. “What are the new Netflix shows this month?” “How many cups are in a gallon?” “What time does the mall open today?” We can all relate to Googling questions. People go online to search for answers to anything.

Now, think of a time when you Googled a health question. Were you in the mindset to find out some more information? When health and wellness is top of mind, people are searching for answers, and thinking about solutions.

This doesn’t just happen in the digital space, it happens in real life too.

Recently, I was shopping the OTC section of my neighborhood pharmacy, looking for a new multivitamin supplement. There were so many different types, brands, dosages to choose from! It was great to see how many options were available. To narrow the selection, I took my phone out and started Googling. I wanted to gain some information about the OTC products that I was looking at.

At that instance, I knew I was in the Mindset Moment™. That is the point in time when people are searching for solutions, motivated to act, and willing to focus attention. I was in the mindset, thinking about my health and wellness. And this was all happening within the aisles of the pharmacy.

I selected two different multivitamin bottles and then walked over to the pharmacy counter in search for some advice. I asked the pharmacist a few questions; she was very helpful and knowledgeable. That’s something you don’t get from Googling a question: a real healthcare professional talking to you face-to-face.

With the recommendation of the pharmacist in mind, I made my multivitamin selection.

We all use our phones in search of answers, but there is a different state of mind when we are looking for solutions to our health and wellness in the aisles of the pharmacy. The pharmacy channel setting is conducive for delivering information and educational materials. Next time you are in the pharmacy searching for health and wellness information, ask yourself… “Am I in the Mindset Moment™?” Chances are, yes!

There is no doubt that I will continue to Google questions as they come up. But when it comes to health and wellness products, the pharmacy setting, with its overall healthcare “atmosphere” and proximity to a pharmacist, is more supportive when I am searching for solutions.
