Both, of course, are essential competencies for anyone who wants to succeed in the pharmacy field. But another quality that\u2019s less tangible but equally crucial is the capacity to establish trust. It is not surprising that year after year, the Gallup consumer poll of honesty and ethical standards among various professions puts pharmacists in the top three.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #77bc1f;\">I think about this a lot because in my role heading up the analytics group for Rx EDGE, I appreciate the combination of <em>science<\/em>, <em>detail<\/em>, and <em>trust<\/em> that goes into measuring every Rx EDGE program.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><em>Science:<\/em>\u00a0 The \u201cGold Standard\u201d<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rx-edge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/gold-standard.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1319\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rx-edge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/gold-standard-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"175\" height=\"175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.instephealth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/gold-standard-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.instephealth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/gold-standard-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/www.instephealth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/gold-standard.png 494w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 175px) 100vw, 175px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #77bc1f;\">The protocol we use, a Matched-Panel Experimental Design, is about as scientific as you can get in the world of marketing measurement.<\/span> I\u2019ve been in several meetings where I&#8217;ve heard pharma marketers and retail partners alike call it the \u201cgold standard\u201d because of its validated statistical design and level of accuracy.<\/p>\n<p>By testing under live conditions on a well-crafted test vs. control basis, marketers can confidently evaluate the impact of our programs. Retailer-supplied Rx sales data is used, which means that we are able to capture actual incremental script volume attributable to the Rx EDGE program.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rx-edge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/microscope-cartoon.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1317 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rx-edge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/microscope-cartoon-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.instephealth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/microscope-cartoon-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.instephealth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/microscope-cartoon-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/www.instephealth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/microscope-cartoon-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/www.instephealth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/microscope-cartoon-1024x1024.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.instephealth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/microscope-cartoon-700x700.png 700w, https:\/\/www.instephealth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/microscope-cartoon.png 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Attention to Detail:<\/em>\u00a0Comprehensive Research Execution<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ff00;\"><span style=\"color: #77bc1f;\">Every element of the process \u2013 from matching the test and control panels to analyzing post-program data \u2212 requires thoroughness, accuracy, and precision.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>In a nutshell, here is what\u2019s involved:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rx-edge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Picture3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1327 size-medium alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rx-edge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Picture3-157x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"157\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.instephealth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Picture3-157x300.png 157w, https:\/\/www.instephealth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Picture3-79x150.png 79w, https:\/\/www.instephealth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Picture3-367x700.png 367w, https:\/\/www.instephealth.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Picture3.png 383w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 157px) 100vw, 157px\" \/><\/a>Rx EDGE programs are isolated from seasonal and market factors, which might impact a store\u2019s performance<\/li>\n<li>Test and Control panels are statistically matched based on attributes including sales patterns, geography, media exposure, demographics, hours of operation, and store footprint<\/li>\n<li>Panel matches are refined further based on the client brand&#8217;s scripting volume during a twelve-week Base Period<\/li>\n<li>Usage of the Base Period insures that scripting was matched<br \/>\nin Test and Control stores before the Rx EDGE launch<\/li>\n<li>Measurement periods: 12-week Base Period followed by Test and Post Periods<\/li>\n<li>Controls: Rx EDGE units placed in Test Panel stores (none in Control Panel)<\/li>\n<li>Relative changes in script volume are compared in the Test vs. Control panel<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Despite its seemingly simple premise \u2013 compare the panel where the program ran with a matched panel where it didn\u2019t, and observe the changes in script sales \u2013 the matched-panel method vitally depends on meticulous attention to detail.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rx-edge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/handshake-color.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1318 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rx-edge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/handshake-color-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Trust:<\/em>\u00a0Delivering What We Promise<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #77bc1f;\">We take the analytics process very seriously.\u00a0 But that really doesn\u2019t mean anything unless our clients fully trust the metrics, the process, and the results.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>For that reason, we use an \u201cindependent third party\u201d research firm. This firm receives the script sales data, conducts the analysis, and frequently presents the findings at the conclusion of the respective analysis periods. Our clients can rest assured that they are getting an unequivocal view of the program\u2019s effect.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Putting It All Together<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A pharma marketer\u2019s ability to develop the best plan and make effective decisions demands the use of reliable metrics. That\u2019s why I get so much satisfaction out of helping our pharma clients determine the real effect of the programs they execute with us and consulting with them about ways to use those learnings to adjust future strategies.<\/p>\n<p>I may not be a practicing pharmacist anymore.
